| Description: | The purpose of the event is to advance the INPRO F2N collaborative project by developing the work plan and initiating sustainability assessment studies, consistent with national priorities, to inform the feasibility and strategic planning of a transition from fossil fuel plants to nuclear energy systems, using IAEA/INPRO and other relevant methods and tools. The following are the objectives of this meeting: • Review Member States’ ongoing and planned work on sustainability assessment for fossil to nuclear transition; • Initiate studies applying IAEA/INPRO and other relevant methods and tools to assess selected fossil to nuclear transition cases; • Develop and agree on a common study template to support consistent analysis and reporting; • Review and agree on the project work plan, including key activities, responsibilities and schedule; • Revise the Terms of Reference, including the project scope, objective and schedule, as needed. |
| Applicants: | The meeting is intended for nominated INPRO F2N collaborative project participants and experts from INPRO members and observers who are directly involved in, or can contribute to, the planning, analysis or assessment of fossil to nuclear transition options. Participants should have expertise relevant to one or more of the following areas: energy system planning and modelling; nuclear programme planning and infrastructure development; power plant siting, decommissioning or repurposing; techno-economic assessment; sustainability assessment methods; and the application of IAEA/INPRO and other relevant analytical tools. . More specifically, the meeting will seek the participation of: • Experts who can present national approaches, proposed case studies, methodological inputs, data requirements, or preliminary analyses relevant to the objectives of the INPRO F2N collaborative project. • Experts that are familiar with the IAEA and INPRO methods and tools, along with other relevant tools, will utilize them in the analyses and assessments. • Personnel from other IAEA units, as appropriate, to provide technical inputs in areas relevant to fossil to nuclear transition planning, including energy planning, nuclear infrastructure, siting, economic assessment, safety and regulatory considerations, and nuclear technology deployment. |
