Regional Training Course on Implementation of Dosimetry Codes of Practice for Absorbed Dose Determination in External Beams (TRS-398 Rev.1) and Brachytherapy (TRS-492)

Project:RER6046-2600235
Organizer:IAEA
Place:Seibersdorf
State:Austria
Date:09.11.2026 - 13.11.2026
Description:The event will provide the participants with theoretical and practical information on the Implementation of dosimetry codes of practice for absorbed dose determination in external beams (TRS-398 Rev.1) and Brachytherapy (TRS-492).
Applicants:Metrologists: The training is intended for early- and mid-career scientists working as radiation metrologists in a Secondary Standards Dosimetry Laboratory (SSDL) with a background in radiation dosimetry. The candidates should be involved in performing calibrations for radiation therapy level (orthovoltage X ray and/or Co-60) and/or brachytherapy (reference air kerma rate), and the national code of practice is IAEA-TRS398. Medical Physicists: If a country does not have radiation therapy calibration capability, one medical physicist may be nominated instead. This candidate should be a qualified medical physicist working in a hospital and be actively involved in patient treatments using high-dose-rate brachytherapy and/or linear accelerators. Prerequisite for all applicants: Applicants must hold a proof of completion of the IAEA e-learning on Uncertainty estimation for radiation measurement in SSDLs and hospitals available at: E-Learning Courses – | IAEA (or other relevant e-learning course). Regulatory Staff: Regulatory staff will not be accepted.
